ASK Education & Training Ltd.

About us

The company was created by Andy Hunt following five and half years of working as an Education/Training Co-ordinator for a London based HIV charity. Unfortunately, the charity was not able to survive following funding cuts so ASK was set up to continue supporting the existing customers with their training & education requirements. It is from these small beginings that ASK has grown into a strong and stable company.

ASK Education & Training Limited

ASK is a small training company, based in South East Wales but with geographical coverage extending across Wales and into a little bit of England. We started the company in November 2001 and have enjoyed a steady growth every year since. We are dedicated to providing specialised, high quality training for young people, organisations working with young people and adults.

Our training is always provided in consultation with the organisation and is planned to meet their precise needs. The main subjects covered are listed here:
Blood Borne Viruses, HIV, Hepatitis, Drug Awareness, Sexually Transmitted Infections, Sex and Relationship Education, Prejudice, Contraception and Condom Awareness.

Director’s Profile

I am a passionate man who enjoys life. I love asking questions and have a natural desire to learn and grow. I love watching and listening to my surroundings but will always want to challenge the reasons for doing it that way. I am a visual learner but care deeply about helping others to grow, whatever their preferred learning style.

I am the director and main trainer/educator for ASK Education & Training Ltd which I set up in November 2001, after 5 years of working in schools/youth clubs with a HIV charity. For ASK, I deliver training to a wide variety of organisations including schools, Universities, youth clubs, probation services, The Prince’s Trust and further education colleges. The subjects I teach are usually those that organisations are reluctant or unable to deliver themselves and include sex education, sexually transmitted infections, HIV, drugs, prejudice and relationships.

My personal interests include trekking, scuba diving, DIY, climbing, holidays & travel, attending music concerts, gardening and surfing the internet.

My friends would describe me as an over organised man who loves a deal, is passionate about food and loves crossing things off his lists.

We hope you enjoy working with us, the following sets out our working ethos and approach.

ASK Ethos

Company Mission Statement:

To create environments where people learn

“I feel it necessary to help people to learn by creating the right atmosphere – you can be taught or you can learn and I want us to do more than just teach … I really want us to change people with our training so that it lasts. I believe that it is the learning motivation (help people to want to learn) that can make the difference.
The name ASK stands for Attitudes, Skills and Knowledge but as a word also encourages the listener to engage with the trainer, to ask questions. I want to create environments where people can ask questions they are worried about without fear of judgement so that hopefully they can get the answers they need.”
Andy Hunt, Director

Company Objectives (ASK):

  • Challenge Attitudes
  • Develop Life Skills
  • Enhance Knowledge

Attitudes

Giving people information is not enough you must give them the values to use it wisely. The effective domain is the hardest area to cover in training and is often qualitative and hence difficult to measure but we aim to challenge existing values to encourage the growth of better ones.

Life Skills

Information is useless, even with values attached, unless you can use it. The life skills give the student the chance to apply what they have learned in real situations.

Knowledge

People make healthier choices when they know the facts about a given subject. Giving accurate and reliable information is paramount.
